The Long International Day of Slowness 2015
The Long International Day of Slowness 2015 is the ninth edition of an event which aims to enter the calendar of our habits, a polite invitation that the non-profit Voluntary Organization of the Art of Slow Living extends to all the world’s citizens to listen to the rhythm of time, to give rhythm to one’s own time, to find once again a way of living with a human rhythm, in which less and better are inseparably related, allowing the damage caused by years of frenetic activity with regard to the environment, personal relations, the economy and the planet to be overcome. All with the simplicity of a pause and a smile, which allow us to enter our intimate and collective Quiet Zone, a space where worries fade away and obstacles become small tests or child’s play.
After Milan, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, London and Paris, the Day of Slowness aims to weave a thread between Milan, the venue of the Expo, Ziano Piacentino (where our non-profit association is based), the Italy which tries and some islands of the world, to improve their sustainability, liveability and co-existence. An economy that takes into consideration the real well-being of people and evaluates wealth not only through the capacity to acquire goods is beginning to impose itself in the vision of many.
The Day, long and so slow as to give rise to events for a week and longer, will start on 7th and will continue until 13th June 2015. It is an event which lives thanks to the participation of all and is developed in over 100 events in Italy and around the world. Everyone is invited to take part, with friends, colleagues, in the family and with school friends.
From 14th April to 8th May Sharing Design hosts a Quiet Zone, a small sample of that may happen in June at the different events organized throughout the country.
