Ishinomaki Laboratory

“Creare qualcosa di nuovo!” è il motto del gruppo di giovani designer giapponesi che hanno dato vita al progetto di laboratorio artigianale per e con la gente di Ishinomaki dopo la distruzione causata dal terremoto e dallo tsunami l’11 marzo 2011. Un segno che vale a livello internazionale e che dimostra il potenziale del design e della creatività come risorsa di costruzione e legante sociale oltre la bellezza degli oggetti.
La mattinata del 13 è dedicata a loro, una decina di designers che mostreranno, presenteranno e racconteranno attraverso la semplicità dei pezzi creati con legno e tessuti come si possa far rinascere l’ambito e gli spazi urbani insieme alla speranza della gente che deve ricominciare la vita da zero in mancanza di tutto.
Un video mostrerà come dalla distruzione e dall’allagamento l’opera di tanti volontari professionisti e gente locale abbia rimesso in uso alcuni spazi della città adibendoli a laboratorio artigianale che ora produce e vende, rappresentando una risorsa economica autonoma per la città.
Un momento di incontro e di scambio in cui cercheremo anche di collegarci via web con Ishinomaki e le persone che lavorano nel laboratorio per condividere questo momento.

“Create something new!” is the motto of the group of young Japanese designers who have begun a craft laboratory for and with the people of Ishinomaki in the aftermath of the March 11 2011 earthquake and tsunami. The gesture has an international scope, serving to demonstrate the potential of design and creativity as a source of construction and social cohesion, in addition to the beauty of the objects. The morning of 13 April is dedicated to this group: By means of the simplicity of objects created with wood and fabric, a dozen designers will show, present and explain how it is possible to revitalize the surroundings in urban areas along with the hope of people who find themselves having to start their life all over again from scratch. A video will show how after the destruction and flooding, the work of many volunteers – both professionals and local inhabitants – made several spaces of their city inhabitable again by turning them into an atelier for craftwork that now produces and sells items, representing an autonomous economic resource for Ishinomaki. During this moment of encounter and exchange, we will seek to open a Web connection with the city of Ishinomaki, with the people who are working there in the laboratory in order to share the experience.
